This project, continuing our support for the work of Dr Antonis Pouliopoulos at King's College London, is developing a gene therapy for children with Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) — the most lethal form of childhood brain tumour. The approach packages genetic therapies into nanoparticles delivered via focused ultrasound, which temporarily opens the blood-brain barrier to target tumour cells without harming healthy tissue.

The treatment is non-invasive and adaptable to individual tumour types, with potential applications across both paediatric and adult cancers. The project runs from November 2023 to March 2027, and is jointly supported by Action Medical Research and LifeArc. ACT's grant contributes towards the remaining funding required to complete this vital work.
