ACT has awarded £4,990 to support Dr Jarvis at Imperial College London in applying lipid systems biology approaches to the diagnosis and understanding of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a rare cancer of the adrenal gland.

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive cancer that disproportionately affects young people, and for which treatment options remain limited. Dr Jarvis and her team at Imperial College London are leading a project to improve how ACC is diagnosed and understood.

Their research investigates how lipid oncometabolites — molecules linked to cancer progression — could be used to identify ACC more accurately. Using innovative technologies to study lipid reprogramming in cancer cells, the team aims to improve diagnostic precision, support better prognoses, and help shape future treatments for this challenging cancer.
